Encuesta IUPAC sobre grupos de investigación implicados en el descubrimiento de nuevos fármacos para el tratamiento de enfermedades olvidadas.
Dear Friend,
IUPAC has recently approved the project titled,"A survey of research into new drugs for neglected diseases in
Latin America", of which I have been given the honor to act as the task group chairman.
This project, presented by Prof. C. Robin Ganellin, has been proposed as an activity of the Chemistry and Human Health Division Committee.
The project aims to identify testing laboratories and chemistry researchers in
Latin America who are currently working to discover new drugs for the treatment of neglected diseases. The next stage would be to stimulate other medicinal chemists in
Latin America to also conduct research in this area, and to make contacts between themselves and the testing laboratories.
The reason for this e-mail is to announce the initiation of this project and at the same time, to solicit your collaboration, by filling out the attached survey.
Our proposal is to carry out an action which would be in benefit of the person who suffers. Any suggestions, initiatives, etc... would be most welcomed.
I am at your entire disposal for any questions or needs you may have.
If you know other colleagues who are active in the discovery of new drugs for the treatment of neglected diseases, I kindly request that you provide me with the names and e-mail addresses. In this way, we can build a growing chain of researchers who are involved in this field, all of whom may see their own individual activity improve as a result of joint collaboration.
The project will include publishment of the names of the participating groups in the upcoming months, forming an internet forum for meeting and discussing all aspects related to the discovery of new drugs for the treatment of neglected diseases.
